Let There Be Light

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1:3

Over the past month, I have had a bible study online with friends. And I can truly say that I have grown in understanding as we discuss the different topics. During this process, I began reading a few books as well, to keep learning more. Well, as I read Wednesday or Thursday night (I think it was Wednesday), I read how a minister had spoken the same words above over a specific situation she was facing and had not had any luck in changing. As she asked God to cast light into the situation to help her find the solution, He held true and allow His purifying light to reveal things to her. And I thought, wow. As simple as those words are, they hold the power to unlocking doors and seeing solutions to problems unfold. So I spoke those very words myself over a few things, and like that, God opened my mind to understand.

Too many times we get comfortable walking around blind. We would rather be oblivious to the solution and wallow in self-pity at the problems we face versus taking the road less traveled to getting up and out of it. I have whined, complained, cried, and whined some more about situations I have faced rather than using the authority God has given me to seek out a solution to the problem. This is a two-fold problem we create–1. we do not allow God the room He needs to fix the problem for us and 2. we cause ourselves all sorts of unnecessary stress and anguish. This shows that we lack the faith in God to show us the way out and thus we do not ‘cast’ the care to Him.

When God spoke ‘Let there be Light’–what happened?? The light appeared and darkness disappeared. Darkness and light cannot coexist in the same space. When you light a candle in a room stripped of electricity, the whole room becomes brighter because of the presence of the Light. Likewise with our problems, God’s insight, wisdom and divine understanding allows us to see the problem from the perspective of the solution. If we follow the light, we get through the forest to the other side. Today, cast away your cloud of defeat and call forth LIGHT in your situation!

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
